Under the Factories (Safety Training Courses) Order 2001 which came into effect in June 2001, All workers, including Singaporeans, must undergo a Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC) before they are allowed to work in construction worksites.
This course aims to introduces workers to the hazards associated with construction work, and what they can do to protect themselves. With effect from 1 May 2013, the CSOC will be enhanced to include: A two-day course and new practical training and assessment.
The Singapore Contractors Association Ltd had been approved as an Accredited Training Provider by the Ministry of Manpower to conduct the above course. Presently, this course is conducted in Bengali, English, Malay, Mandarin, Myanmar, Tamil and Thai.
